Nikole Barnes & Lara Dallman-Weiss

2020 Team USA Olympians in the Women’s 470

Another day in the office means long hours in the sun when you are an Olympic sailor. Just ask U.S. Coast Guard LT Nikole ‘Nikki’ Barnes and Lara Dallman Weiss, the Team USA and U.S. Sailing Team members representing the nation in the Women’s 470 at the 2020 (2021) Summer Olympics in Tokyo. That’s why Nikki and Lara never cast off, much less head to the boat park without a protective coating of Harken Derm products. Sun protection is something the two have grown up with, from Nikki’s Optimist sailing days in her native St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands to Lara’s summer sailing on X-boats on White Bear Lake, MN. This continued during college sailing, Nikki at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where she was named Quantum Sailor of the Year and Lara at Eckerd Collage, where she earned skipper and crew of the year honors. Nikki remained conscious of sun protection as she transitioned to U.S. Coast Guard officer duties in Sector Miami. Ditto with Lara as she moved up to big boats, earning North American champion in the Farr 40 class. So, it’s no wonder that when the two teamed up in 2018 for an Olympic campaign to represent the USA in the Women’s 470, that it was a match made in Harken Derm heaven as far as skin care and sun protection was concerned. Fast forward, on March 12 Nikki and Lara earned their Olympic qualification at the 470 World Championships in Vilamoura, Portugal. Now, it’s on to Tokyo in 2021. Harken Derm products packed too.
